The low voltage limiter HVL consists of a metal oxide varistor and two thyristors in antiparallel connection.
Short-time overvoltages with a duration of less than 0.4 ms are limited by the metal oxide resistor. Due to the thyristors voltages with a duration of 0.4 ms or more are limited to 3 V.
The maximum voltage in accordance with EN 50123-5, table 5.2, can be reduced or increased on request as the case arises.
